My wife and I have no desire to celebrate the day. People always ask what I bought her, but when I respond with nothing, no one seems to believe me as if I'm just bullshittin'. They cannot get around the fact that there are people who do not feel the need to participate.
I try to make it a point not to deal with the holiday because I don't believe in it or honoring saints in general, that's not part of my upbringing. But if the woman I am with thinks it's important I gotta ride with that, because as it turns out, my birthday is the day after Valentine's Day. I don't want her to say she doesn't believe in my birthday.
