I would expect Our Generous Host to DOMINATE the darkness on his own unless, of course, it takes him back the encounter with the tennis coach. In which case a degree of nervous seepage might preclude DOMINATION and leave him whimpering quietly amongst the towels and sheets in the dark of the airing cupboard.
