I have no idea who "sterek" are.. i've never seen Teen wolf or whatever... And may be they are canon and hell everyone ships them i dunno... and yet destiel wins with a huge advantage ;)
Let's be real here for a moment. Destiel is a ship... Whereas Sterek is more of a rowboat, really.
Destiel all the way. Sterek is a great pairing but it's more or less a crack ship. They've had some good moments together, and it could be amazing if it happened. But Dean and Cas have been through so damn much. I could write several books on their relationship. And season 8 has made it my favourite couple on TV.
to be fair most of supernatural ships Destiel, like balthazar. the actors ship it, especially Misha. and all of heaven ships it when Cas was "removed" from looking over the Winchesters for getting a bit too attached to a certain boy.
Destiel.
Sterek is the pairing that could be compatible, two people who might be good for one another.
Destiel is comprised of two people who desperately love each other. They're willing to kill and die for one another. They both show a remarkable ability to forgive the sins of the other. They are bonded. Their relationship has developed organically. No matter how much they've changed and grown, they've always remained perfectly slotted, each for the other.
"I'm not good luck, Dean," says Cas.
"You know what?" asks Dean--"bottom of the ninth, you're the only guy left on the bench, sorry, but I'd rather have you, cursed or not--and any way knot up, we're all cursed--I seem like good luck to you?"
Cas smiles.
"What?" asks Dean.
"I don't want to make you uncomfortable," says Cas, looking at the ground, "but I detect a note of forgiveness."
"Yeah, well, I'm probably going to die tomorrow, so--"
"Well," says Cas, "I'll go with you--and I'll do my best."

**Season 8 Spoilers Below**
When Dean trusts no one, tests everyone he meets with holy water and borax and silver... this man who barely hugs sees fit to embrace Cas in Purgatory (where nothing and no one can or should be trusted). He tells him he needs him, that he prayed to him every night, that he won't leave him. And Cas says he understands. Along the way, he thanks Dean for everything. And EVERYTHING is a lot... a lot of bad stuff. Cas has died for Dean, lost everything for Dean, gone crazy for Dean... yet he THANKS him for EVERYTHING. And, when he says he understands, what he means is that he understands he has to lie. He has to go along, pretend he's "getting out of [there], going home" with Dean. He walks at his side, fights with him, protects him, and he knows the whole time that he's doing no such thing. Because he knows his human, his charge, his Dean won't take another step closer to the escape hatch unless he believes with everything he has that Cas is leaving with him. So Cas lies. He pretends. He must ache knowing he's walking Dean to the last place he'll ever lay eyes on him. He knows he won't even be able to say a proper goodbye. Yet, he does it. He let's Dean get too far into the portal before shoving him through and purposefully staying behind. And Dean... good god... Dean convinces himself that he let go of Cas. He convinces himself it was his fault, his failure, because that's less painful than thinking his angel willingly stayed behind without him. Dean sees it all when he closes his eyes. Hallucinates Cas when he's awake. Looks at him like a gift when he returns (though wary of the how's and why's).
So, Sterek or no... What does any couple (canon or not) have over Dean and Cas? And I'm not reading into anything or rambling meta. Every word I typed it true in canon. There is no other choice.
I ship both but this really is no competition for me and I don't understand how it could be.
I could write whole books about why Dean/Cas is such an amzing lovestory and why I am so in love with it but it boils down to this: They saw each other at their lowest and fell for one another anyway. They make each other better,they make each other whole. And it doesn't even matter if you view it as romantic or platonic, it's a lovestory either way.

Even when Castiel knows what Dean is planning he follows his 'fearless leader' to the end. He's risked his life, rebelled, killed his own kind in order to protect his charge. He's been beaten, lost faith and been put through so many tests for a human, and even the other angels noticed the change in him. He gave up everything for Dean.
In Purgatory the first thing Castiel does is leave, but he does this to protect Dean. Everything he does is for him!

I don't even ship Destiel, really, but if I did - they would be the cutest couple ever. Its too bad that Dean and his new bedroom aren't an option!
