Why is The Stand on the list? And agreed about Lonesome Dove. Also, what about War and Remembrance by Wouk? The Maltese Falcon? From Here to Eternity? This list is severely lacking.

I can think of a couple of omissions (Lonesome Dove, above, is one), but it this is a good and thought-provoking list.
