If you're going to the U.K., fine we get it,. but to willfully subject oneself to the many-headed hydra that is Heathrow gets a thumbs down from us as regards British Air, which by the way, we've found to be lacking in other areas which will not be mentioned here.
We find Delta and their partner KLM run a smoother, more fluid transatlantic service. They'd be our first choice. Connections are easier through Amsterdam or Paris. Lufthansa runs a nice service as well through Frankfurt.
If you've always been curious enough about Iceland to want to stop in on your way over to another European capitol then Icelandair sure makes sense.

The Air France route to Paris was taken over by Delta.

Condor and Icelandic have the cheapest flights. Condor is the economy partner of Lufthansa, I understand. We had friends fly from Paris to Frankfurt to fly Condor this past summer. They said it was the cheapest, even adding the extra flight from Paris to Frankfurt.
