Considering ALL expenses, how much do you spend a month on average?

My husband and I are full-timers, our average monthly expenses are around 3600.00. We eat all of our meals in, as we eat organic. This type of eating doubles a normal food budget. Camp ground fees, electric, insurance, gas, cable/satellite, propane, tags, cell phone, pretty much consume the rest of the income. my husband is not yet retired and we look forward in trying to reduce our monthly expenses by boondocking and utilizing public lands during our traveling to help with cost. I am interested in learning more about solar power to reduce cost even further.

I'm still new to full timing, doing it for just under a full two years. I keep track of all my expenses and seem to average a little over $3,000 a month. The larger ones are; fuel 450, cg fees 650, food 400, entertainment 500, and phone/direct tv 250. My cg fees have been averaging a little over $20 but I haven't done much boondocking yet. Next year I'll be roaming more out west and hope to reduce the cg expenses. Most of my entertainment is spent when I'm with my kids. I actually hope this category doesn't go down for a while (lol). My other categories are: propane, maintenance (truck & 5th wheel), insurance & registration, club dues, clothes, mail, medical, miscellaneous. I'm still amazed at how great some folks are at keeping all this "stuff" even under $2,000 let alone under $1,500. By the way, I drive about 1,600 miles a month, usually staying about a week at each location to explore the area. Luv the eZine. Thanks Jamie!!

My humble opinion of this poll appears to support the idea that the middle class in this country is pretty much nonexistent in this country anymore.

Just look at the % in the lower range and then the % in the higher range and compare to the middle ranges......just sayin'.

Since we only RV part time, it is less than $1500 a month, adding the sticks and brix expenses, it is approximately $3,000 plus RV expenses. Since we don't have a toad, a lot of the time the RV is used to go to and from the VA for doctor's visits, test, possible hospitalization, over night stays and using the refrigerator and freezer for stocking up on meat at the commissary. This not only helps us, but also puts more funds into the MWR accounts for other soldiers and retirees.

For our vacation this summer we are trying to figure gas at $5 per gal. We don't eat out a lot since my husband is on a restrictive diet. That is one of the reasons I bought the RV. Since we are retired military, we take advantage of staying on base/post when possible or utilize places with military discount. When possible, we use commissaries for part of our groceries to save and like to purchase fresh produce from farmers maarkets or from the farms themselves if they have a stand.

I am looking forward to this summer's traveling. I sure hope the weather will be cooler up north.

I just returned from two and a half months on the road. I averaged about $1600.00 a month for all expenses. Gas,camp fees(averaged $25.00/day), eating out (alot), tickets annd incidentals and some groceries. I still have expenses at home because I have a stick house. I just got solar panels and can't wait to try them out. That should reduce the camp fees to about $15.00 a day.
