What do you think of the term "shared decision-making"?
I don't care what you call it, as long as we're working towards evidence-based care and informed, woman-centred decision-making.
I think the word "shared" is too risky; it gives too much power to practitioners who may have agendas that conflict with the values of the women they care for.
I think the word "shared" is ok, but it should include other sources (e.g. professionals) of evidence-supported information that should be equally accessible to all women.
I think that using the term "shared decision-making" is a good thing and will put more of an onus on practitioners to see themselves as equal collaborators working alongside the women they care for.
