I'm using tiny tiny RSS on my own Linux server. It has its own android app. Works exactly like Google reader and is free.

As it runs own my own hardware no one but me gets access to my data and only I will decide when its shut down.

Definitely worth trying. Easily imports Google reader settings too.

I'm sticking with Google Reader until they bring it back!!!! That said, I'm backing up my feeds on June 30th. On July 1st, 1993 my mother died. Twenty years later, to the day Google kills Reader. I hate this day.

Feedly has hit a gold mine with the Google announcement. To me it's Google Reader plus. A cross between the full text reader and graphical apps like pulse and flip board.

I miss the offline mode, and tighter more compact text only mode and yes it lags frequently.

But hey if 500,000 users hop on unannounced in 48 hours, what can we expect.

I am sure people at this startup Feedly have been terribly busy and with assured funding hacking away at their systems to release a new version soon to not let reader users go anywhere else.

I've already stopped using Reader. No point pursuing it since Google is systematically wiping its tracks from the Web. Links gone, android plays store download gone. It's time people move on.

Nothing so far. I'm still using Reader.

None of the so-called "alternatives" is a decent full substitute. I need web based, and an app for Android is desirable as well. I dont want "magazine view" - I like the way Reader displays just the text.

I'll be keeping me ears and eyes open and checking out anything new. Until then I'll stick with Reader until it goes away. If there is no real replacement by then, I might just stop reading stuff.

I amusing Vienna v3 on my Mac Mini! As far as mobile goes, I do not have an alternative yet!

Feedly is going to be my fallback, but I'm not planning on letting lose of Google Reader until midnight on June 30.

Hopefully something far better than the existing choices will surface between now and July.

There is no google reader replacement, yet.
Feedly is awfull - slow, plugin based, doesn't run on my nook simple touch.
The old reader, might be similar to Reader, but.. no android app, no apps supporting it and a long queue to import.
Pulse is awfull with their tile based interface.
Other simply use other types of views like the list view. None of them has an exanded view. And some of then, also don't have any compatible app for my nook.
Let's hope that gReader pairs with the Old Reader and come up with a great solution!

What I miss in Feedly is that it cannot let you read articles offline...
