While RFK was instrumental in several key historical episodes including the Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Civil Rights Movement, Hamilton's work set the stage for the Great Experiment. His policies on capitalism, banking, and taxation are still evident today. Furthermore, he upstaged fellow cabinet member, Thomas Jefferson, in the advancement of both the Constitution (through the Federalist Papers) and the groundwork for a strong central government. While Jefferson came from the elite plantation society, Hamilton was an immigrant born poor and of a broken family. His opinions also found greater favor with Washington who relied heavily on the wisdom of his former aide-de-camp. It could easily be said that Hamilton's influence on the nation is more prevalent today than that of any founding father.
