Separation of Church and State and freedom of religion are two big things America is built on, but that's beside the point.
How would this work in practice? If North Carolina was Methodist and South Carolina was Lutheran and New York was Atheist, Michigan was Muslim and and New Jersey was Catholic? Would anything ever get done in senate or congress, would there be holy wars? Would elected officials have to be affiliated with the state religion, would people who identified as another religion have to move out of the state?
It makes me cry a little inside when absolute nonsense like this gets any support.
