Airport security may overdo it, but it is their job! Sometimes, it does feel humiliating and too intrusive, but once they finish checking me, I never forget to thank them for doing what at most is a thankless job. Mostly, they smile back, and thank me for understanding and appreciating their situation. Our bureaucrats and ministers are used to being treated as a VIP, and they do not like when they are treated like a commoner. The rules are rules and they should be applied to all, regardless of their position!

Complete over-reaction by the UP CM. I don't see anything wrong in frisking at airports anywhere in the world. Firstly, problem is with Indian VIP culture which makes people think that they are above the law and even a 10 minute delay makes them furious. Thus whenever they are expected to follow the normal rules (frisking is a normal procedure at all airports as we know), many of such VIP's feel uncomfortable. Secondly, why it becomes an issue only when Shahrukh Khan, Azam Khan get frisked? Why is media un-necessarily creating a notion that immigration at US airports just frisks people with a particular religion and nobody else gets frisked? Can we not see that Chief Secretary Mr. Javed Usmani was given immigration clearance without any hassles! Hence, lets keep the religion completely out of it for heaven's sake. Need is to accept it as a procedural requirement rather than raising a hue and cry. Also Indian airports must improve their own scanning & frisking mechanisms to ensure security.

Akhilesh and Khan are VIP's in India alone. Outside India, they are Very Impotent Persons meaning non VIPs and should behave properly.

I have been living in USA for over 45 years and have been treated properly while going through Airports. I have been checked by hand, went through scanners. These are normal procedures to protect me and other fellow passengers while traveling. At airport, officials ask what is the purpose of your trip if you go out of the country or come back just to make sure that terrorists are not coming to this country.

Suggestions to VIP's coming from India is to take a plane to Canada. From Canada, to come to USA, cross the border by bullock cart. U.S. Customs Officials will be flabbergasted by VIP's arriving by a caravan of bullock carts and treat the VIP's as Maharaja's and receive them with garland.

NOTE TO VIPS: PLEASE DO NOT SHOW OFF. YOU ARE NOT NEEDED IN USA. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN FOR HIGHER EDUCATION OR COME WITH YOUR FAMILY FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT. STAY PUT IN INDIA,

haha....how ridiculuos of the MINISTER IN CHIEF. Telling you,he did gain the trust of his peers, fellow dirtbags and so on and so forth. And who knows, may be he did this on purpose. Man,he feels as if he was one scholar who will be appreciated for this bold step. May be they do not know,It is commonplace in America to strip search and frisk for safety. These guys with their pea-sized brain just do not realise this. Think of Shahrukh khan. He did not stop visiting US after being frisked very carefully. Not once but twice. A.P.J Abdul Kalam is another solid example. This could be the result of the simple fact that these guys have far too much self respect. So much so that they do not care about the safety of a country, its citizens and the integrity of its law. Pathetic and childish behaviour,Mr Minister.

A situation can be misunderstood if it's comes up unexpectedly and suddenly. CM Akhilesh and the minister traveling with him to US could be assumed to have the knowledge of the similar past incidents, in which VIPs of various standings were security-checked. One wonders about their trip preparations and planning abilities. It's quite unbecoming of a VIP to raise a ruckus about the processes of an inviting country. Before taking umbrage at host's procedures, one could have made certain that the steps involved in accepting an invitation are in accord with one's expectations. An invitation entails two parties: the host and the guest, and each has their responsibilities to uphold. It's a disgraceful behavior for any individual and more so if he is also representing the biggest state of India. Totally unacceptable. Why not just go through the line like everybody else and deliver a memorable talk at Harvard. What was his primary objective? In addition, didn't they know what happened in Boston just a few days ago!

It is difficult for UP politician to understand how advance world works. It is unfortuante that a young Chief Minister who have studied abroad and has an exposure to advance world , rather than learning and implementing some good things from them, is overreacting.
America, after 9/11, took some steps and these steps have assured them that nothing like that repeats again there.
Compare our steps on fighting terrorism and we see repeatations with out as much learning and actions as US takes.
It is system that works in US arrespective of the position of the person.
Akhilesh ji may take some learnings and start implementing in UP for better governance.
He is to lead by example.

What these two idiots think of them selves? Whatever airport security does is just to make US public safe. They just frisked him. Next time they should strip search if they have little dout. I have nothing against Muslim but week back what two brothers did to sons and daughters of the USA, they made them disabled for rest of their life beside 4 lives including 8 years old kid. Only fault of their was to feed them for eight years. I am 74 year old and had been hand searched few times. I always felt they did not do this because I am Indian origin but they did it to make me and fellow traveller safe.

Who cares if Akhilesh doesn't make it for the lecture. It is his loss, not Americas loss. Did he think that he will be treated as a Maharaja in US. US is not India and that is the reason why it is so developed. They thought perhaps America is another gone case UP .Learn humility or else Americans are smart in teaching one and saying sorry later. GOOD LUCK.
