As a parent I can tell you, we learn pretty quickly how to be calm when you see/hear your kid screaming cuz if they see you freaking out they amp their shit up and freak out more. Last thing you need is these lil niggas bleeding all over your couch and carpet. Your dad did that while considering missing the game on TV (this was in the time before DVR's), fucking up his sleep and the cost of a co-pay.
It's hard out in these parenting streets.
As for Jason Collins this is a P.R stunt to try and get another contract, just like Frank Ocean came out right before his album dropped.

Not a big deal at all. But i don't agree with the Jackie Robinson of Basketball comparison, Jason Collins averages less than 4 points per game. I think since he's a free agent and getting up there in years maybe he's looking to spin this into a book or sportscasting for a career after the NBA. This no doubt took courage and I hope he found peace in this huge step in his life.

He's currently a free agent so it's not AS big of a deal. It's not like he's necessarily expected to return to a team but the fact that he came out after just having finished playing for the Wizards has to be the shortest time a NBA/NFL/MLB player has come out after being off a team's roster. So it's still something but it's not quite so significant that it should've got the White House's attention.
