Defending a sex offender's right to carry a gun in public is crazy taken to a whole new level. Anyone who has worked with sex offenders knows their behavior often escalates, becoming more aggressive and violent over time. They may start with window peeping, advance to break-ins, then forcible rape. Their "cure rate" from incarceration and therapy is not good, particularly for pedophiles. But hey, I guess the gun industry figures their money is as good as anybody's...a sale is a sale.

Hang onto your guns...you never know when Paul Revere will raise the alarm once again.

Be wary of what rights you give up, because you're told it only applies to certain groups of people the government has decided to categorize and micro-manage to make "you" safer. One interpretation to one law leads to a broader use of that interpretation for other people in other areas of law.

This is the part where lawmaker's will try and take away the right to bear arms. This was never about the sex offenders. It was a clever rouse to take away more rights we all have as American citizens. The more people the government can micro-manage, the more taxes we pay and the less rights we have.

i think as long as they are not a felon they should be able to carry. i mean if you are going to publish there name and address and make them an easy victim for vigalanty justice, assualt or some other crime because some one does not like them because they are a sex offender
should they not have the right to protect them selves?

I don't agree with this at all - as you said later in the article, There was a man that was charged for indecent exposure 10 years ago (for pissing outside probably). There is absolutely no reason why he should not be allowed to carry.

Our current laws ALREADY provide a way for lawmakers to keep guns out of violent hands. You can't have assaults, drug charges, or felonies, and get a permit. Indecent Exposure, and other cases of sexual offense should be reviewed on a case-to-case basis.... if at all.

If you've got a speeding ticket > 15 mph, does this make you an aggressive driver, and therefore aggressive with firearms? No, That makes no sense. Just because TV shows all have rapists with guns, that's not real life.

    Proven by this very article:
"Of the roughly 5,750 people on Iowa’s sex offender registry, 47 — or less than 1 percent — used guns in their crimes, according to data from the Iowa Department of Public Safety."
