Should the penalty have been called?

The inevitable result might have not been any different for Vancouver... however it is ugly when a GOOD game of playoff hockey turns into a really BAD game of ref. Referees are well advised to be oriented to a new level of intensity for the playoffs and use better judgment when it comes to the calls. It made it obvious his poor judgement had negative impact that dramatically changed the outcome. The call against Bieska and Sedin were both a travesty. Although key indicators of the decetion referees have. Too bad, not a very glamourous result for everyone involved. Shame on this Ice Official! End of Story

Two calls against the Canucks late in the game are highly questionable - vs Bieksa (that led to tying goal late in the3rd period) and then vs Sedin in OT. One is left to speculate what is behind this blatantly biased officiating. Is this part of the bettmann 'game management' philosophy that permits subjective judgments by officials (and yields the game results that are favored by little B's office)? This is not new, hockey fans have been disgusted by the officiating subjectivity for some time now. The NHL will be much better off once bettmann returns to the NBA league offices to replace Stern, although his NHL labor managment performance may make this difficult.
