In Longmont, and in some other Colorado cities, dandelions are considered a public nuisance and are required to be removed. Should dandelions be illegal? (Poll Closed)

Dandelions are not indigenous plants of North America. They are but one of many invasive species brought here from elsewhere. They only become difficult once they are out of control. You don't need to apply 25 pounds of weed killer every year, just spend 5 minutes a month spot applying minute amounts, or Heaven forbid, digging them up. The people that are too lazy to spend 5 minutes on their yard are the ones that want them.

Dandelions are natural and edible. Longmont should have more of them instead of dumping pesticides everywhere to create all those pristine and perfect lawns. Why don't we consider how many chemicals are being dumped annually to prevent weeds? It's because we can't see them but they are there.... polluting our waterways and poisoning our children playing in the parks as well as the thousands of geese eating the grass around town. I'm sure their diet doesn't include fertilizers and pesticides.
Take a drink of 2,4 -D and see how it tastes if you're in favor of a dandelion free city.

We use the plants for making salads and tea and I do not think it is the place of the city to tell people what they can and cannot eat.

Dandelions are important plants for northern hemisphere bees, providing an important source of nectar and pollen early in the season.

So just to be clear. There is support for making mother nature illegal? If someone gets this approved, then we should look at people who plant Aspen trees along property lines with other people. Those things spread just as fast as dandelions.
