What did you think of the Xbox One reveal event?

I'm a bit late here but the reason I will NOT be getting this console is largely due to the Kinect. I don't want it, I wont use it and without having a way to fully disconnect it and play my games, I wont own any of it. MS can keep their surveillance package, no thank you.

My KO argument for the console is the mandatory Kinect. It's a no god for me to even allow the possibility of remote access to my living room through audio/video access. You can't trust MS promises here because the NSA will get access if they want. They even work on a law right now which forces internet services/OS to provide backdoor access.
Beyond that is the disappointing HW which doesn't even use the TDP context of the last generation with a 100W SOC. They either should have played it conservative like Sony or delay a few months and use 2x transistor budget with 20nm process early 2014. That could have given them the edge but they didn't even bother. Why should gamers bother to pay for this underwhelming HW then?

Good going Microsoft , you've successfully confused 8 billion people . But what I think we should do especially those loyal gamers out there who still have the original Xbox like me , is wait for Microsoft to drip feed us more info. There's no point jumping to conclusions or assumptions saying it has this , it doesn't have that . But if there's one thing u can count on , is that any Information given to us now from Microsoft will be so minimal that it's going to be torture up until launch day . # we need Xbox One reveal NO. 2 please , hopefully answering those all important questions the gaming communtiy need answering .

Wait, so people don't want Apple TV, they want a gaming console?

Microsoft, I think we've grown apart, it seems like you don't even listen to me and your always off in your own little world. Given consoles horrible names and forcing people to pay more for less options. I'm sorry, but I've been talking to pc. They actually listen, build around me and yes, I'm sorry, more attractive (especially under the hood ;) I'm sorry, I'll send for my stuff.

Yes it is somewhat disappointing that it is not backwards compatible, but hey just keep your 360. Xbox Live will still be supported for the 360 for many years to come.

The majority of my comment was actually made by a good friend of mine after we were discussing the ridiculous fan boy backlash last night. I just felt it was so apt that I had to use it.

It's a testament to how pathetic people are that they can look at a console that can stream hd film and audio, play the most advanced games ever made, model you in 3D using an updated version of technology that was already so unique that the military adopted it for flying drone aircraft, can record video in 1080p, can, in fact, do a number of these things simultaneously and will retail for half the price of a decent TV and STILL find something to moan about!
Microsoft said all along there wouldn't be much in the way of games and that they would be showing more at E3. It's a whole 19 days until I'm sure Microsoft will knock our socks off!

They lost me at the lack of backwards compatibility
Despite being a devoute Xbox fan, when it comes time to move on and I have to leave my 100 and some games behind there is exactly no reason not to pick up a playstation.
I'll miss Halo but Playstation do at least seem to understand the value of good exculsives.

First of the name, retarded. Sedesignedesignedret the box is even more ugly then the rely Xbox 1, I ges they gave up an targeting the Japanese audience. Even the kinect senser is big and bulky. And finally yes they did not show any game but this was to be expected, with E3 in a fuw weeks. The stuff u can do with the new kinect is Intriguing if it works. Though that dos not warrant a by. All and all, love the 360, was going to love the 720/infinite. Did not like my PS3 just us it to play my PS2 games, but it looks like im geting the PS4.
Quick not im in school for game design so if they were to go more in depth of what the specs are that would be nice.like the graphics card is it nvidia?
PS Nintendo better make a zelda if they what to live.

XOne and PS4 are both going to struggle. Even though I've always owned other computers, the reason I bought consoles as well is because they were machines designed primarily with games in mind. When I got the PS2 and Xbox Classic, the PC I owned at the time was technically superior to either, but gaming on it was a real chore. Consoles offered a steady stream of accessible blockbusters you either couldn't play elsewhere - or could, but the experience was nowhere near as polished. That's what I want from a new console, but may never see that again. Sigh.

Idk why everyone is knocking this device, it is still great which included better graphics, better sense of multitasking, and a great place for sports fans who are in fantasy leagues. I guess some will just never be happy

  • james - 11 years ago

Great show. Cant wait for there showing@E3. Will someone put out a box of tissues for the sensitive im so complicated gamer no one understands me emo crying thats saturating this thread.

My real worry isthe new Kinect sensor. I got a kinect for Christmas two year back, and it never got any use because I couldn't even sort enough floor space to get the damn thing set up. I wound up trading it in. Is this new one going to be the same? They're talking it up like it's vital; if I don't have room to jump around like an idiot will I not be able to make proper use of the console?

I guess I'll have to wait for the launch reviews before I decide whether or not I wan to bother...

Why would I buy a console that won't allow me to rent games (which I buy if they're good), prevents me from testing the waters of a series (I borrowed the first Mass Effect from a friend & bought the next two new & did the same w/used games in other series), requires an internet connection to play single player games, requires a peripheral to be connected whether I want to use it or not. Worst of all there is not ONE benefit to the consumer in these practices...which is heart-breaking because I'm a big fan of the 360 & of the original Xbox. I'll pass.

  • Stoddard56 - 11 years ago

Wow! So they are trying to sell me what exactly? I'm not paying them for things I already have/ can do. I'm sure this will all come with a bump in XBL cost ( maybe not at launch...but it will happen). I buy systems for games, so where were the games I would want bad enough to buy this system?

  • Go to hell Microsoft - 11 years ago

Pay a fee? PAY A FEE?! To play on a different xbox? Say like a friend or two or three, etc? PAY A FEE?! F*U! Sony/Nintendo here I come!

  • person - maybe - 11 years ago

harsh guys... i think it was F***ing awesome! cant wait to get one. its just a bonus that it can do other stuff. its still great for gaming, idk why u guys dont think it is.

Very disappointing, Xbox is becoming a TV set top box that also plays games. They are taking the wrong approach. They have the lead , however they are going to give it back to Sony. The already chased most of the Indie developers away. And now the news about used games is coming out. I am not paying another fee so my son can go in his bedroom and play a game I already own on his Xbox. I have three Xbox in my house now and I'll probably have 3 PlayStation 4 systems soon.

    Ouch, sucks for Microsoft.....

  • Alvaro Roble - 11 years ago

Where to even begin on this grotesque topic regarding the schpiel that Microsoft gave the audience. The general audience knows it was horrid, hence the poll. All I can say positively, is that I concocted a nickname for the Xbox One: Known as X1.
