Dimebag is a heavy metal guitarist, Joe is not. Metal guitar playing is obviously not your forte if you think Pantera sounds like Metallica. Also, who cares if your little brother could play it in hist first year. I could play anything Hendrix did in my first year of playing, hell within the first 6 months, and that means nothing.
It all comes down to taste, and that's it. Satches stuff isn't uber-complicated to play when comparing it to other greats like Vai, Petrucci, or anybody else. He goes for melody. When you start downing one guy, you show your bias.
Dimebag doesn't have millions of fans for nothing. He didn't just make noise.

Yea this shouldn't even be close. First of all, tehpathogen, you clearly haven't listened to many satch songs if you think they lack feeling. This isn't even Satch's best song (most people don't know many others unfortunately), and certainly not his best "solo". Secondly, what the heck is so special about dimebags solo here? I don't understand how its on a list of 100 best solos, or even 200 best solos. Its forgettable. Pedestrian. My little brother could play this after his first year of learning guitar. The best you can say about Pantera is that they are pretty good at stealing Metallica's sound.

Satriani may have more of a technical background, but he lacks feel, or at least his feel is not appealing to me. IMO.

Really? Come on now...mentioning Dimebag Darrell in the same sentence as Joe Satch is ludicrous, at best. Satriani is technically and melodically Darrell's superior, and is simply more accomplished and polished.
