This whole crap about the hours of service is just that CRAP. Legislation passed on our industry by people who have never seen the inside of a cab. Is there tired drivers out there?absolutely

How do we get rid of the problem of drivers falsifying the "Lie Book" excuse me the Log Book. It's actually pretty simple heavy stiff fines, loss of driving priviledges, & for those that just dont want to learn, well since they are violating a Federal Law, how about some mandatory jail time. AND eventually complete loss of ur CDL driving priviledges. BUT guess what those who make a living writing & enforcing these laws will eventually find themselves pretty much out of a job. SO JUST FOOD FOR THE BRAIN.... do they really want the problem to go away? Hell when I drove there were many many many times I was told to come inside the scale house & bring my log book, & no mention was made of my driver's license. Gee they were not even a bit curious to see if I was qualified to be driving that rig,they just wanted to see if I knew how to fill out my log book properly. So how do we fix the system that's been broken since the dawn of time? The enforcers just keep coming up with new & more complex laws that the truckers will no doubt break due to a lack of understanding.But guess what it will generate more revenue for the enforcers. I guess if I was wearing a badge, gun & a blue uniform I would be looking for ways to keep my job also. I'm sorry for what I am about to say & I'm sure many will get offended by what I'm about to say, but hey people stop passing these complex laws upon an industry where the average driver can barely read or write. Here's something they will understand.

1st Offense $250.00 Fine
2nd Offense
$500.00 Fine
3rd Offense
$750.00 Fine
Note: all fines payable immediately
4th Offense
1 year mandatory loss of CDL
5th Offense
1 year mandatory JAIL TIME in the county you are currently in
6th Offense
Loss of your CDL for life PERIOD. GIVE THESE LAWS 24 MONTHS TO WORK & WE WILL HAVE AN INDUSTRY where log book violations & unsafe drivers are a thing of the past. BUT allow a driver to work every day as long as he drives 10 hours & sleeps 8. And remove all the confusing laws of drive x sleep x 14 hour rule 34 hour reset only during high tide but if low tide see rule #x.
