Would you ever say no if someone asked you to be in their wedding?

I recently declined a friends request for me to be maid of honor but had to turn down the request due to the amount of money that it would have cost me.

My best friend since I was 2 invited me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next year. She always told me I would be her maid of honor until I had kids. She felt I wouldn't have the time for her. She is having an American/Arabian wedding which would mean I need 2 dresses plus shoes hair and makeup. I had to decline cause of the cost and disappointment of not being the maid of honor.

I paid for all expenses for our bridal party--but was just in my best friends wedding where I spent close to $2,000.00 just on dress, shoes, hair and makeup. (Hair and makeup HAD to be what she wanted). So if it was that much I would have to decline. :(

If I knew I could not fulfill my responsibilities. I would explain to the individual. Their wedding is to important. Hopefully they would understand it's not a slap in the face.

I have said "No" to an invitation to be a part of a wedding. I didn't approve of the marriage. turns out I was right , the marriage lasted only 6 months. I hated to say no but I felt it was the right thing to do.
