    Hello Wendy,

Given that there appeared no box in which to expand on 'other' I should perhaps point out that the survey seemed to limit its respondents to one field only, and that to accurately answer I could not confine myself to just one.

I am not sure that my input will be of much use to you, but here goes.

Post-PhD, should this ever happen, I would continue doing what I have been doing over the past twenty or so years, and that would include some lecturing in HE: some writing, still ranging from popular to academic; with some 'think-tanking' for the likes of RUSI on the side.

The short answer is that any difference would most likely be minimal, although any influence I might have may be underscored by this type of academic achievement and improve 'marketability' should this be a route I take.

Like with many things in life, I feel that it is the journey rather than the destination which is important. And I may well be closer to the end of the tunnel than most 'aspirants', close enough to see the light perhaps? Tell me it is not a train.

    Peter
