Of course Jasper looks like a direwolf - ALL Maremmas look like direwolves!! In fact, we are actually direwolves, sent here to this realm to help protect our human clan from those nasty white walkers!

Yes, he possibly could be mistaken for a large wolf like creature, especially in camouflage.
