If Republicans kill the NLRB, should organized labor start a general strike?

The NLRB is a very important commission. It resolves issues between unions and management. When I managed at the Post Office I had to deal with a few complaints and since business normally doesn't want complaints like that, we resolve them quickly. It is necessary to have NLRB because they keep both management and unions on track and complying with the agreements they have signed with each other.
The GOP is truly trying to break unions and I am against it completely. I have been a union member for 23 years and then a manager for 21 years and I have seen it from both angles. We need unions for workers to protect them and their benefits. We need NLRB to protect both unions and managers from improper actions regarding national agreements.

Being a teacher means that by law we are not allowed to strike, but we'll be there walking the line everyday after 3:30!

It's about time the Working Class rises up and shuts down America with a Strike. Lets see how the government takes it when they're on the receiving end of a shut down.
Greedy corporate executives have been pushing the Working Class for years, and now it's time the Working Class push back.

We shouldn't be waiting for the repubs to do more damage, we should make the first strike(no pun intended)!! Dems and unions, of which I am a member(IBEW LU 481, Indy), have been sitting on their laurels for far too long and look what it has gotten us, Crisis!! Indiana had an awesome opportunity with the Superbowl in 2012 and wasted it. Just as the Superbowl was happening the repubs in our state passed a "So Called Right to Work" law and our unions did nearly nothing! I spent day after day down at the state house in the weeks leading up to the vote, so I speak from first hand experience. In the following months since then several states, emboldened by republican anti-union success in Indiana, pushed their radical agenda all over the mid-west and the country.

We held the Super Bowl in a beautiful, world class, UNION BUILT stadium just days after RTW passed in Indiana. We should have shut down the down town area and shown the State, Country and World that the labor movement and the working class will no longer stand for these attacks on our livelyhood and our families! But instead we had a protest march through Super Bowl Village that may have lasted an hour at the most directly AFTER the passage of the RTW bill.

We have failed our own people and it's little wonder why these days many of my own union brothers and sisters have little, to absolutely no, faith in their unions and the Democratic Party! We Must unite, we MUST strike, the very fate of our way of life depends on it and we are ready!

The GOP has absolutely no incentive to address the economy or jobs. Their strategy is to screw up the economy, keep unemployment high and blame POTUS and Democrats for all the problems, and that will make them successful at the polls.

I've said for many years now, before the economy even crashed, we should all stay home the whole country should just shut down, no work no gas, nothing, stop paying bills, that means Everyone being United for the good of all....What happens to one of us, can Happen to any of us., I never understood how people don't get that...Yes, I think this would show Solidarity, and force them to face and deal with our issues...

We need to vote republicans out of Congress. President Obama and Americans have given the more than enough opportunities to actually do something for America. They refuse to. When they are gone they'll have nobody to blame but who they see when they look in their mirrors.

The lessons of history are lost on the rightwing ideologues. If they want to undo the laws that were cynically enacted to maintain labor/management order, then they shouldn't be surprised to reap the whirlwind of resulting labor actions. Bring it on.

We have to stand up for what is right. People can no longer just get by on minimum wage and take care of their families. The wealthy continue to get rich and the workers are falling by the wayside. It is time for the middle class workers - teachers, nurses, policemen, firemen, etc. - to get what they deserve for their hard work.

Sorry about that double post. My Border Collie was pawing my computer. Guess RW behavior is even obvious to dogs.

Anyway Ed, RWers are still living in their sociopathic world of lies and denial. I know people say that's because all they know is FOX. But I think it's a more mentally disabled delusion than that. They really think in this modern age of high tech we can't or don't see what they're up to. Or even sicker they just don't care that we can see their hypocritical, destructive behavior.

You're a voice for Americans who 'see'.

Why can't this Poll, be on the first page, so we don't have to download 2 pages of weeks worth of data, just to enter a Yes or No, and click the Vote Button? WHY? It USE to be that way! And Should BE Again!

The president and the democrats need to get loud and get serious about restoring the middle class, filling the NLRB and all other appointments, and rebuilding America.

ON STRIKE, SHUT IT DOWN. Lets see how long Scott Walker and all of the governors would last when anarchy ,chaos, when buildings burn down. and other bad things happen. We need to get rid of of these Righties.

Ed, So glad your back and working to reveal the destructive activities of corporations and RWers on the working middle class. The Republicans have become out and out traitors and should be tried for treason for blatantly operating to break the American economy and create a lords and serfs nation.

Keep it up Ed. We appreciate everything you do.

The working class, over 150,000,000 people in this country, is losing the war -- pretending there is no "war" while having their share of the American Dream steadily diminished for over 30 years. We are overdue for a General Strike. There MUST be a show of backbone and solidarity against the forces of predatory capitalism.

We have to fight back to keep our democracy. Greed cannot be allowed to run this country into the ground. The Constitution gave us ALL certain rights and not just a select few wealthy conservatives who are only looking out for themselves and increasing their own profits and power. If a general strike will change this free fall then so be it.
