Can we, as a community, do something to prevent a tragedy in Huntsville like the one that ended in Trayvon Martin’s life?
Yes, we can. Taking the lessons of that incident, we can be motivated to make sure local neighborhood watch organizations stay in close contact with the police – and take their advice -- and that our youth are taught constructive, non-violent ways to respond to challenges from strangers.
No we can’t. That was an isolated incident that has nothing to do with Huntsville, nothing to do with suspicion among the races, and nothing to do with whether or not guns should be regulated.
