Any country grows with the economic growth and with a state of peace within the country.
If a state is burning on an issue that forcing its own people to die without any solution then its time to decide & act on behalf for the majority. The growth of the Country in anyway will not be hampered since the economic potential to boom is still there within the country border itself. The newly developed state will certainly want to attract new industries with extra beneficial to create new scope of jobs, which altogether will boost the GDP of the state within 5 year or so. On the other hand the other parts of the state which eventually may face a downfall in commerce & GDP will try to give a fresh start to the entire system. If the places are not equipped with the mines & ores then they will have to depend on other resources like agriculture, power, sea products etc. which will in turn keep them in pace to compete & enlarge the margin of their GDP; after all 'Necessity is the mother of Invention'.

In AP its not of backwardness that UPA has carved out a separate state but for its political advantage and for 10 MP seats... IT'S JUST AN MOVE OF SHREWD POLITICS NOTHING ELSE........

I don't know about other states but Haryana has developed a lot after its partition from Punjab.
Despite less fertile lands, less irrigation sources and less industries in comparison to Punjab,Haryana is far ahead of Punjab in terms of revenue and development.
Strange but true .. Haryana was created in 1966 and till 1970 i.e within a short span of 4 years all the villages in Haryana had electricity connectivity.
This shows that small states lead to better governance and better utilisation of funds. In short more development

Smaller states have in the past, lead to greater development. Their GDP growth has picked up considerably after separation. Good examples are HP, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Chattsigarh etc., and what is better the Govts. are forced to be more responsive to people feelings, when they are nearer to people!
I bet suspension of an honest officer would prove to be lot more costlier in a smaller state than in a larger state. No wonder Mulayam Singh opposes smaller states.
Today HP has the highest per capita income in the country, despite being considered as a non viable state at the time of formation. Today MP & Chattisgarh both have better economies than the undivided MP.
