I live in MD and we have it far worse with our Gov and legislator. My state is truly a 1 party state. Conservatives can't get anything done. And when you have the corporate tax rates as high as they are in MD and in MI businesses will and have left in drooves!

I live in Minnesota, with Rep Keith Ellison, Gov Dayton, and Senators Klobuchar and Franken handling things well for me. I'm actually proud of all of them! We have Rep Bachmann just a few miles away, but she represents a republican district that "lives to hate", so she fits in well and does neither good nor evil in Minnesota. Rep Bachmann is silent locally, from what I can tell, and only heard nationally. I've only been studying politics for three years, but am glad to find my neighbors have done a great job voting for good people, even before I knew the difference between the parties. I'm now sufficiently aware of politics to vote for good politicians. Add-in the fact that President Obama speaks in terms I always understand and respect, and I can say I like the way the government is functioning here in Minnesota right now.

Ed: the minimum wage only pays: $7.25 x 2,080 hrs per year= $15,080 total.
    At Federal Increase @ $10.15 x 2,080 hrs per year = $21,112.00 total
What is the level for poverty in this country???
These wage amounts do not account for Taxes, or deductions that may be taken out of each paycheck.
Net take home pay will be below poverty level for both of these wages.
Wages for the Speaker of House, Boehner is @ $223,500.00 per year!!!
Majority or Minority Leaders are $193,400.00. Reid, McConnell. Cantor.....
Senators and House Members @ $174,500.00

My state is all republican, Governor, both House and senate are controlled by the repubs. Repubs out number dems by 3-2, if you count the Native Americans, the dems would lead. The minimum wage is this state is now @ $7.25, but we have what they call as a opportunity wage @ $4.25 for people under 20 yrs of age. Also in this state if you ae a waitress or waiter, you only get $2.25 for a training wage, after 90 days you move up to the $4.25, than after one year $7.25. The Governor is waiting to see what happens with Medicaid before he covers it in this state, if at all. Cut in Food Stamps in very big in this state, with Native Indians and working poor. Medical Insurance is all but non existing. Cost is way too high for most.

I live in Wisconsin and I am so discouraged. Life in the dairy state seems to get harder and harder and no one seems to care.

scott of Florida is still try9ing to purge people off the voting registry, as if that will help him stay in office. Last time he found only one person. In addition, he is trying to appeal to teachers by earmarking raises for them, but that won't help him either - thanks for the teacher raise, but scott is still evil. Oh yes, he has re-instated early voting and longer voting hours. We'll take it, because we can use it, although it won't help scott. he should be trying to raid the till as much as possible before he is booted out.

As for MN, that state would be much better off as soon as it gets rid of the crazy motor-mouth-fish-monger congress-woman who is currently being investigated. Imagine that!!! They always say if you live in a glass house, you should stop throwing stones. What a DUNCE!!!

Here in Nevada we have a tea party republican Governor. He has been doing everything he can to fight off a democratic challenge in 2014. In the meantime our only psychiatric hospital has just lost it's accreditation. I just hope that the current Attorney General Ms. Maestas will run in 2014 she is a good strong democrat and has done a lot for homeowners and victims of sex trafficking
. On the other hand the Governor refuses to increase taxes for any reason even though his own republicans have support increasing the taxes on the mining industry in order to fund our school district which always rates near last in the nation.

Wisconsin has been stuck behind the teabagger curtain since 2010, much like half of Germany after WWII. Cant get out because the home is underwater

Pennsylvanians are you listening. We have a corrupt governor and legislature that rivals Wisconsin. We still have to endure one more year, then hopefully we can start to look like Minnesota.

I voted Yes but full disclosure Ed: My State legalized same-sex marriage in 2008, we received a record 40 inches of snowfall, the most in the Northeast during super storm Nemo this past winter and I'm a Vikings fan so it's pretty much already like Minnesota here.
