Do you think the Ontario Rangers program should be reinstated by the province?

For the past four years my wife and I have been trying to re-establish portions of the Sakatawi route.

This was an historic route from Biscotasing north and included several options.

I first canoed portions of the route in 1976 and at that time the portages were maintained by the Junior Rangers.
We returned in 2008 to recreate a 1978 trip only to find the portages all but gone.
We spent the next four years finding, marking and clearing portages so that portions of the route are now open.
We sure could use some help in keeping this route open.
See http://www.canoecouple.com/Adventures/Sakatawi/Sakatawi.html for the complete story.

I was also a Junior Ranger in 1977 at Cashel Lake outside of Pembroke Ontario. I was not big on the wilderness, or being away from home, but the experience that summer was so good for me and memorable. I grew up being aware of the ministry's Junior Ranger program because my father, Verner Hansen spent his entire career working for the MNR. The last part of his career was spent as the Thunder Bay Coordinator of the Junior Ranger program.
We always remember hearing of the many adventures of the rangers that were in his charge. I hope you are successful in your attempt to bring back this valuable program to the youth of this province.
