What do you think of NUST's rules?

Exactly there is no doubt that NUST is a prestigious institute. BUT currently it is under the strict "RULE" of overreacting and inflexible people. There is no problem if you implement "reasonable" rules. Segregating cafes for students and asking to wear a dopatta are no way reasonable and prudent. Making rules "in the best of interest of students" is not a justified excuse. If a certain dress is acceptable by the parents and social circle of a person, they why it is not accepted by a university for secular education. A social amongst us does not want their daughters to wear dopattas then what? In LUMS and IBA, you want to wear jeans, you can, you want to wear dopatta, you can, you want to wear hejab, you can ! their only concern is your intellectual development and education. Is it not a better environment , a more suitable for a university??

very well explained ... universities are not tourist spots ... dress codes must apply as they are done in all offices ... boys cant wear shorts / sleeveless vests ... girls should also be professionally dressed ... thats all ...

nice article and its up to nustaians or any individual how he want to led his life and there shouldn't be any restriction imposed by force. But please don't mix the basic concepts of ISLAM (about parda, mehram etc) with word TALIBAN. There are some boundaries regarding clothing & traveling alone being a girl which were imposed by Islam not by Taliban.

Each and every issue, very well explained. Simple words, simple examples. Good one. Keep it up.

Very well written. Finally someone stepped up and cleared the misconceptions. I am a student of MCE and the rules here are so strict you cannot imagine. It is a pity that students are complaining about such issues while studying in the best institution of Pakistan.
