I do not use QR codes, and I don't know if this was geared more towards librarians. However, I have heard of them being very useful. I recall in my high school they had a scanner. Each student had a bar code, and they would have to scan the book and their bar code, which made it easy for checking out if the librarian was busy.

I have also heard of them being used in connection with SMARTBoards. I was researching iPads and SMARTBoards and found someone who used a QR code for students. The presentation the teacher created was displayed on the SMARTBoard with a QR code. The students would take their iPads, scan the code, and have the notebook file on their iPads, and be able to work through the lesson.

I am unsure of how effective they can be in classroom settings, but it makes sense that they would be useful in a library setting. I hope you are able to find a good use for them.
