Just regarding the HIV part, since this is kind of part of my work. NO one should use circumcision as a protection against HIV. This is so not true.
Studies have found that in:
- communities where there is a very high prevalence of HIV positive people.
- where other means of protection can't be prioritized because of poverty or social constraints.
Circumcision can be promoted as a public policy. because it will decrease the rate of spread of the infection in that community. It's not like a doctor will tell you, "you circumcise your penis to protect yourself"
No one should talk about protection. Protection means safe(r) sex. no other way around it.
