As a loyal Star Trek fan, I still had to choose B5. I love DS9 and all the characters and lore, but B5 moved me in a way that Star trek just couldn't.

I'm with George. These were my two favorite SF shows ever. But I give the edge to B5 for its story arc and for the casting of Bruce Boxleitner (one of Hollywood's most underrated actors) and Mira Furlan.

I've been a fan of Star Trek since I was a kid, but when Babylon 5 came along it really blew it out of the water. I still like both shows but DS9, and Voyager after a while became pretty predictable. Seemed like any time the writers got backed into a corner they'd throw in *sigh* another time paradox episode. Seemed to be the standard excuse for anything odd happening. And even though DS9 had a longer run, the story seemed to turn a different direction towards the end and I lost interest. I found myself asking myself "how long are they gonna keep this up?". B5 on the other hand was fresh, new and stayed on point with the basic plot/storyline of the show.. and sadly when it ended after season 5 there were still enough open threads and plot lines going that it could have kept going, or branched into some great spin-offs successfully if the powers that be had allowed it. Crusade and Legend of the Rangers were never given enough of a chance. I wish B-5 would continue on film.. be it more tv series or theater movies or both!!

This was a hard choice as they are my two favorite TV SciFi shows ever. I watched both faithfully throughout their entire runs. I guess I liked B5 a bit better as I have all the B5 DVDs and none of the DS9 (Though I did get them all from Netflix to re watch the series about 8 years ago).
I still consider B5 the best TV series I have ever seen.
