It also takes the same amount of time to serve a salad as to serve a steak. Do you tip less on the steak? And there is a lot more effort involved for the waiter in serving any bottle of wine than in serving most food - so maybe we should tip more on the wine? Silly rationalization. If you can't afford the tip, don't order it.
