Do immigration rallies still have any impact on the larger debate?

I'll say it (and I'm NOT anti-Hispanic): these protests at the Phoenix I.C.E. center are POINTLESS. Yes, most AZ Democrats and progressives care -- but who doesn't care... NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST? JOE ARPAIO, Jan Brewer, every other right-wing kook currently chasing (or will be chasing) the AZ Republican Party's nomination for governor in 2014, Tom Horne (who is desperately trying to cling to the Attorney's General office), etc. So, a couple of hundred immigration reform supporters, mostly Latino, might show up today to protest deportations at the Phoenix I.C.E. center? BIG DEAL. Will they show up AT THE POLLS, en masse, on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, helping to propel a DEMOCRAT back into the AZ Governor's office, Secretary of State's office, Attorney's General office, OR threaten Republican dominance in EITHER House of the AZ legislature? PROBABLY NOT... and then NOTHING will change in AZ, or nationwide. WHY? BECAUSE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ISN'T SUFFICIENTLY THREATENED AT THE BALLOT BOX! The ONLY Power that COUNTS in the U.S. is the ELECTORAL POWER of the BALLOT BOX; and if, by and large, the Hispanic community is going to continue their history of LOWER-THAN-AVERAGE -- the WHITE voters' average -- turnout on ANY Election Day, then Latinos in America are going to continuously receive harsh treatment from the various branches of our gov't, state & federal. Period.
