for the visiting and for the view assessed
and, for the those that tip our hats
and wish "good day you, Miss"
who open doors thou emptied hands
you are our second breath
And, hope that I don't disappoint the next your fingers sashay across my pixeled thought.
Personally, I prefer a world where kindness is offered where needed, rather than because of gender. I definitely would have expected that man you describe to let you through the door first, just as I would do the same if I saw a man carrying several bags and I had none. And more often than not, that seems to be what I see in the world. So no, I don't think chivalry is dead. I just define it differently.
