Much ado about nothing. Solar is being incorporated into the legacy utility, but technology will resolve the problems and the centralized utility paradigm won't change.
The centralized utility will evolve into another, perhaps several, paradigms which could include government ownership and operation through federalization and/or municipalization. But that will take a long time, perhaps decades, to have any effect on my job.
Rooftop solar is already causing big operational that could lead to system meltdown. Continued rampant growth of rooftop solar is not compatible with the existing centralized utility. And you can bet that politics and public pressure will put the responsibility on the utility.
The industry, as we know it, is circling the drain. The next 10 years will see utilities restructured and jobs lost.
