I am in 13.04 32 bit right now, all my attempts to download and run 13.10 64 bit have failed.
I will keep trying today as I have nothing else to do.

    GA-990FXA UD7
AMD FX four core 4.2 GHz
    8GB RAM
SSD 64 GB boot drive (Kingston)
12 1.5 to 2 TB hard drives for storage.
This PC holds my entire life on it!

I'm having trouble with 32 bit in playing DVDs, have tried several attempts to load the special DVD decoder software - all have failed.
Most of the system runs well but there is NO DRAG AND DROP!!! Why should I keep playing around with this other than I am do not like the direction Windows is going (I do not own a TABLET!).

I left XP with much trepidation to move to windows 7, so far it is OK but I have worked on Windows 8 PCs and I will never go there - Microsoft has lost a fan-boy forever and Linux is the only other chioce, I just need to find out how to make this new system work.

    Cheers,

upgraded, but the keyboard switcher doesn't work and it's a bit booting a bit slower

I upgraded on the 17th and I love the boot time, the longest is 2 seconds for booting off of a Hard Drive, I wonder how fast it is on an SSD. The login takes 30 seconds, that's not too bad and the smart scopes are awesome. The rest of the OS seems the same as 13.04

Upgraded. Unfortunately. Keyboard switch stopped working (#1218322, well known before release). USB drives are not mounted automatically (#1241811). Login time has extended (hey, it boots in under five seconds, then let you wait two minutes on the login screen...). At least a more-than-one-year long problem with samba-shares has been solved (#1075923). On the other hand, you still (since at least 2007) can't drag and drop attachments in Thunderbird (#381017 --- yes, the number is correct ). I start to feel that Ubuntu is heading toward a great tablet o.s., and the (I suppose small) number of us who have a computer should start looking around. Happy Ubuntuing!

I'm not using Unity so 12.04 is best for gnome-session-fallback. I'm updating the kernel using the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack
I'm on 3.5 now because the kernel for 13.04 have bugs on my hardware (fan always spins to max speed). They've been fixed with 3.11 so I'll update the kernel again soon.
Obviously I can't stay on 12.04 forever but as I plan to buy a new computer soon I'll put 14.04 on it and see if I can get a GUI that I like.
