How would you build your ultimate pony car given a $65,000 budget?

Start with a 68 Javelin or AMX and incorporate the racing knowledge of Penske and Donahue. It would of course be a street version TA style in traditional red white and blue with a 401 and an automatic. What can I say - I'm getting old. I remember the clutch on my SST was so heavy I would have to put the tranny in neutral at a stop light.
IMHO only the Camaro had a more illustrious racing pedigree than the AMC in the pony car war. Mustang was a wanna be. BWAHAHAHAHA

I vote for the mustang. I want an American muscle car that is built in America! It may not be as technically advanced as the camaro, but it is built by Americans! I also have a C6 vette. The 99 cobra I traded in on the vette would outcorner it any day of the week. So take a new mustang GT, put a 6.6 liter motor and a 5.0 liter blower on it with suspension upgrades and brakes and go kill a ZL Camaro. You can then go celebrate with the leftover change you saved by buying an American built ride. Sorry but I have never been a dodge fan. I just feel that the challenger is way too heavy to be considered a musclecar. It is more like a two door family sedan with decent looks.

I voted for a new Hot Challenger even though I have 2010 SRT8 TA vertion now. If I had the cash and some time (darn work gets in the way) I would finish my 1968 Street hemi Clone Barracuda I have had it for ten years and have most of the parts including the hemi but no time. For me that car was power and still stands on its own at the track. New cars are catching up fast though. To all good luch achieving you goals.

I would start as my 88 gt conv old lady garage find that i found a month ago. Buy a salvaged 2013 roush. Rip my 88 apart and put the motor and iterior in my 88. With the money left over upgrade some body parts and really squeeze every ounce of HP out of the motor i could. I can picture it all in my head now all i need is your money to make it happen. Ill donate my 88 to the cause and u find the salvaged roush and we can both put it together and make one hell of an article. U can have for the first year for car shows but after that its all mine. Deal Hot Rod?

A 1969 Camaro with a ZR-1 LS-9 and a Kugel IRS and Heidt front suspension. Frame connectors. That should about do it.
