The Stadium Grill is a great place and this "controversy" is a whole lot of nonsense.
The pastor who lost his son should be angry at the system that let a 11 time DUI offender on the streets, not the Bar that has some "Party Plates" displayed... The Rymers are great people. Jump off.

I WOULD THINK " DAM " DON'T WANT TO DET THOSE AND MAYBE RETINK IF I NEED A RIDE HOME BUT RATHER I AGREE OR DISAGREE ANY PUBLIC ATTENTION GOOD OR BAD IS A GOOD REMINDER WE ARE RESPONSIABLE FOR OUR ACTIONS AND PEOPLE WHO R PROUD TO HANG THEM WELL MAYBE ( JUST MAYBE ) THEY HAVEN'T LOST SOMEONE THEY LOVE TO AN IDOLIT DRUNK DRIVER , WE COULD DO THE SAME WITH GUNS THAT HAS KILLED PEOPLE THERE IS NO END , YOU CAN JUST GAGE THE .OF PEOPLE WHO DISPLAY SHAME AS AN HONER

@Jennifer Mentor has not gone to S*** the last 5 years it one of the best city's in Lake County. Take a look at Willougbhy,Eastlake Hillibilly capitols of lake County. Take a look at the number of sports teams and other extra-curr activities that go to the state level at Mentor High School. Before you judge get your facts straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the plates would be a reminder of over indulgence and is a good thing. I would think it would be more like a wall of SHAME not fame. And for those who have had a injury or loss by a drunk driver may want to rethink their whereabouts.

You don't have to patron this establishment! So, if you find what they are hanging on their walls offensive than do not go there!

I've been a patron of this establishment for many years . These plates on display have NEVER been looked at as anything other than a somber warning . Yes when you first see them it could generate a chuckle but when you realize those people rode around for a period of time with their dirty laundry for family, friends, co workers all to see , not to mention the financial penalty they all paid . No, hardly a wall of fame but a serious reminder of the consequences one faces for poor judgment . The pastor that lost his son will never get over it . Clear thinking people are not built that way . But seeing these plates should not add to his incredible loss. They were not hung to make light of what could happen but a reminder of what does happen all to frequently .

It's not a "sobering" thought for any one who walks in that bar. The only thing they are worried about when they see the plates is I sure hope I don't get caught and have those plates.

As long as the display of the plates does not become a "badge of honor" so to speak, there should be no reason not to have them. A sign explaining their purpose might help the situation also.

Doesn't surprise me one bit that the bar displaying these plates is in Mentor! Mentor has turned to shit over the past 5+ years!

  • roger - 10 years ago

maybe if they see all the plates hanging there, they, will think about driving

  • Pablo Honey - 10 years ago

@Gerry, the plates are paid for by the offender. I'm not condoning drunk driving but after their restrictions are lifted they are free to do with them what they will.

    Laurel,
Do you really think that families of people who lost someone to a drunk driver should never enter a bar????
    WOW!

  • bill eskins - 10 years ago

Absolutely ridiculous!! If anything, seeing these "party plates" displayed in a bar are just a constant reminder to the patrons that they could be the next one to have a party plate if they don't drink responsibly. It is not encouragement at all. I feel sorry for his loss, but he needs to stop looking for something to blame. DUI plates don't make people want to drink and drive, they will do it anyways if so inclined

  • Gerry Slusny - 10 years ago

Why are the"party plates" not returned to the BMV for re-issue to someone else after the sentence is served? Seems like a waste of taxpayer money.

  • Laurel Gress - 10 years ago

    1. The plates were probably put there as a sobering reminder to bar patrons not to overindulge in alcoholic drinks and then drive.
    2. What were the surviving families of people killed by drunk drivers doing in a bar in the first place?
