Seriously, can we just make Canada a country that is moving forward already??? Oil is yesterday, and I am thankful we have had it for so long, and can replace it any day now... options exist, jobs a re needed, and the oil industry doesn't have jobs for everyone... time to conserve energy and resources, and boost our technology out of the 3rd world canada is looking like, more and more...

Id rather see my province (BC) invest in clean energy (solar roadways, solar windows, tidal energy, wind turbines, ext.). and create new jobs this way. Investing in oil is not only going to cause irreversible, unnecessary damage; but its also economically insane to invest in a depleted energy source that will soon be as obsolete as the whaling and coal industry.
The pipe line will be a short term gain and a long term loss for British Columbia as we move into the future and become dependant on more clean productive energy sources. At a time when jobs are needed, and families need to be fed its easy to see this an answer. But the cons outweigh the pros and British Columbians in the areas affected are aware of this. No matter how much propaganda, adds, commercials, or campaigns are run, it will never change their view or stand point. Rich or broke. harper will have a lot of opposition on this one.
I wanna say I'm let down as a Canadian and its become obvious that harper no longer acts in the interest of the people, or Canada. his strings are being pulled by a higher agenda. The world is changing and new super powers are rising, old empires are falling. deals like this may earn us a little favour in bed with china or the US; but i believe a more self sustainable route is the answer.
i wanna see new jobs created through clean energy and a self sustainable approach. we've been following the US model of life for to long and need to define Canada as a self sustainable first world country that can eradicate homelessness, focus on new technologies, and prioritize enlightenment... This future... is inevitable. We are only waiting for the generation who is ready to embrace it. I hope we won't be living in regret for the province we destroyed when the answer to solve it was there all along.

Well for all the green people sell your bicycle and car if your not happy with the pipeline project because if your against the oil industry you shouldn't have any petrol products in your possessions that include tires I would love to see green peace running from alberta to ontario to prove there point ohhh sorry you can't have shoes ether it's rubber . Well I guess you gonna have to email them ohh but wait a minute you can't use a computer or smart phones there made of plastic . I guess your f***** ether way . Stop bitching at pipeline construction because it's the safest way to transport oil and way more ecological then thousands of truck driving back and forth between provinces . And no matter what you will always have petroleum product surrounding you all your life .

+Mike Gibbons, the poor grammar used in your ignorant comment is confounding. Sell out.

I would rather have clean lakes and cleaner air then cheaper gas and more plastics (remember almost all plastics are made with refined andcrude oil) from China for our kids to play with. This addiction to carbon based fuels has to end. Pipelines like these ensure the oil money machine keeps rolling for years to come. We can't put the planet at risk to pad the pockets of big bussiness.

I suspect that 95% of people that voted against the pipeline are more than happy to receive Government handouts in one form or another. They do not realize that the wealth that can afford that comes from the revenues generated from the oil industry. If you do not want the pipeline, how about we drop the healthcare, social services, pensions, etc. for them.
