HOW DOES SOMEONE CHOOSE?! I LOVE BOTH TO MUCH!

  • Nicole - 10 years ago

I'm just annoyed these two were pinned against each other.... they aren't even remotely similar how can you choose?

  • Natalie - 10 years ago

The Fault in Our Stars is better in my opinion because divergent is just like any other book. dystopian. TFIOS is amazing and it deserves to win. This is for you gus.

  • Tasya - 10 years ago

YOU SHOULDN'T PUT TFIOS AND DIVERGENT IN SAME CATEGORY BECAUSE THEY'RE VERY DIFFERENT. YOU CAN'T COMPARE THEM. AND IT'S VERY HARD FOR MULTIFANDOM FANGIRLS TO CHOOSE BETWEEN TFIOS AND DIVERGENT.

ALSO, (because this comment angered me in such a way I could hold back, despite the fact they might not even see this comment) to user "Meowakins" if you are, and I say this in the most hipster way possible (just to annoy because, you know, after TFIOS is only a mainstream, trending novel), literally saying that John Green's novel is not considered "better literature" because of the fact that this poll was frankly biased by "mainstreams and what's trending" then, as much as I respect your opinion, I have to hands down, floor pounding screamingly, disagree. Explain to me how cancer romance novels are so IN and TRENDY at the moment because frankly, as a true and coming-to-be hipster, I wouldn't like to miss out on a chance to be well more hipster. (If you haven't caught on, it's sarcasm.)

Green's novel is such poor literature, it allowed thousands of parents around the world to catch a glimpse as to what their own perhaps suffering from cancer children must feel like. It's not just a novel, Veronica's novel is pure and utter fiction, and I know I'm going to get hate for it, but John actually talk about real things, and real feelings rather than simply to ecstatic scenes of a dystopian novel along with a forbidden romance and some other crap.

So maybe I don't respect your opinion because as I said in my previous comment, they are completely and totally different from the format they are written in to the genre they are categorized under. Needless to say, y o u c a n t c o m p a r e t h em! And I know that it's hypocritical of me to say that, when I'm spewing shit about what a crappy novel Divergent is but it's not.

The series is great, I think it's better than THG and I can't compare it to THG because they are the same genre and the format of the writing style isn't so different. But TFIOS is nothing alike Divergent, so the next time you say it's poor literature, sleep with your god damn eyes open because you just cannot insult a novel greater than TFIOS. YOU CANT OK YOU JUST C A N T.

ps. dont use that whole, "im entitled to my opion" shit because i dont care. i just wanted to rant k

These books are so different in terms of the context they are written in and the genre both of them are categorized under, I don't get how you could compare them. I don't think John Green and Veronica Roth are "the greatest authors of our generation" as one commenter put it since that's a definite overstatement. They're incredible writers, yet that's true. But there's a thousands of genres in books, you can't generalize every author by simply saying they're the best. It's just bias, maybe if you said in your opinion, and based on your taste of books, they are you favourite therefore greatest authors of time in YOUR mind.

But anyways, you can't compare the two, in terms of meaning of course people would choose TFIOS because Divergent is more dystopian and action based differing from Green's romance, cancer, more-meaning-than-action, kind of book. It's irrational to compare them since they are so different.

I love them both, but if I had to go with one, it would be TFiOS. It is my number 1 favorite book of all time! I have read it like 5 times. I love John Green! He is an amazing writer. Just bought his box set and am trying to find time to read them all.

  • brigette - 10 years ago

I'd bet Divergent is losing because a lot of people are mad about the (not so happy) ending.

  • Ailee McHughes - 10 years ago

I don't think it's fair to make us choose between two books that are so far from each other in genera and overall writing style. They are so different that it is illogical to put them together. John Green and Veronica Roth are two of the best writers of out generation, but pitting them against each other, when they're so different, it's just illogical and ridiculous.

This is INSANE! WE ALWAYS KNOW THAT ONE CHOICE CAN DESTROY US. OKAY? OKAY. AND THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZYYYYY. XD

  • Arianne - 10 years ago

THIS. IS. TOO. MUCH. They seriously can't make us choose between Divergent and TFIOS! Are they mad?

  • pau - 10 years ago

    TFiOS

  • Endymion - 10 years ago

i just finished reading Allegiant and am ready to go die in a hole. They were both AMAZING books, but Divergent has to win for me.

  • Jessica - 10 years ago

YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN THOSE TWO!!!! DX DX But Divergent cause it's losing.... ummm dont know why tho...

  • Yoooo - 10 years ago

They kinda bother me, the comments. They are both great books or else they would not have even been mentioned. Who ever said that it was due to the main steams was wrong. There would be no stream which became main if this TFIOS was not good. Divergent was a GREAT book (I read the whole series) and so was TFIOS.

  • ForeverFinnick - 10 years ago

i think that Allegiant was better than tfios but not Divergent as a stand-alone...
i almost died trying to choose tho

  • Meowakins - 10 years ago

How is Divergent even losing? The Divergent series is 100% better written. With all do respect to Mr. Green, I have read Looking for Alaska (which is one of my faves!) and TFIOS.
However, I will always prefer the Divergent series over anything John Green has written. Any day.
Hands down. I am highly disappointed due to the fact that the voting is based upon mainstreams and what's trending as opposed to better literature (Divergent.)

  • Bridget Maas - 10 years ago

I almost didn't even vote on this one because I love them both so much! Allegiant's ending was a heartbreaker, but so was TFIOS's. John Green is an amazing author, but so is Veronica Roth. Ultimately I chose the one I read first: Divergent. When I saw TFIOS was in the lead I was alternatively thrilled and tearful.

  • amy - 10 years ago

this was such a hard choice i love divergent and i love the fault in our stars but i chose the fault in our stars because it helped me get over the death of my granddad (which i had been struggling with for four years)

  • Sam - 10 years ago

    cruelty, thy name is EW!

  • Ashley - 10 years ago

    This is for you Gus!

  • Diana - 10 years ago

    Goo John Green! DFTBA

  • Saffroney - 10 years ago

Whoever made me chose between divergent and the fault in our stars is a cruel cruel man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
