Serena, more money, older, more titles etc. just put their matches next to each other and Serena is far ahead. Rafa is no joke, he is an excellent player. Will he have that same intensity at age 32? I give him a lot of credit for beating the former #1 (not Jokovic but the other player who is married and has a baby, his name escapes me????) That player held the #1 player for two or three years.

Serena is in the caliber of the greatest players of all time. I will always be a loyal fan. However, Rafa returned from injury and played some excellent tennis against some players that stepped up their game. Also, Rafa was beaten by Ferrer and returned the favor 12 days later. Awesome tennis! A comparison between Serena and Rafa does not do justice to the sport.

I love them both, but if I have to pick, I'm going with Rafa. He had a much tougher road to the top, especially reclaiming the No 1 spot from Novak (who is not going to let Rafa get away with that for long). Looking forward to 2014, and wishing all of the players on both the ATP and the WTA much health and happiness in the future.

Serena certainly have a better year than Rafal. Their one years records were incredible considering the talent they fought against. One cannot say that Rafal played against tougher opponents than Serena. Serena could easily have lost to any of the players she played against if she did not reach deep down to her bags of talents and expreience. She is winner who knows how to win even when she is not playing her best.
Secondly, people over look her success in doubles as well. My vote for better year in every which way is for Serena.
In my book, the jury is in, Serena is the greatest women tesnnis player of all times. No questions asked. If you think differently, TELL ME WHY

Well it's obvious that they both worked hard this year and we have thoroughly enjoyed them!

The obvious answer is Serena - she won more tournaments, more money, better winning percentage and even higher tier tournaments. If you include her age in there, that makes it even more special. Go Serena! See you in Melbourne 2014....
