Will you shop on Thanksgiving Day?

After working retail for 5 years and working the first shift on Black Friday every year I am actually happy to say that I will be shopping on when stores open Thanksgiving Night. Many of you who are protesting aren't going to affect the people who make the decisions to open on Thanksgiving; you are affecting the people who have to work it. Here is some food for thought; Corporate hands down a mandate as well as a sales goal for that day. If the sales goal isn't met at that store then the management team AT THAT STORE not the corporate office will lose out on any type of bonus or incentive, management will have to cut hours for the workers who will then lose out on the much needed pay checks around the holiday season. Instead of boycotting the local stores write the corporate offices, if you go out shopping like I will be, be nice to the workers tell them thank you and just don't be rude to the other shoppers.

Those stores that have chosen to open on Thanksgiving have taken the fun out of going out on Black Friday. We always looked forward to this day. K-Mart has been operating by being open for a few hours on Thanksgiving for several years but it appears these retailers are sure worried about how to get the people to their store - it has really become a competition that carried into a holiday. Please keep Thanksgiving as a holiday to enjoy with family. I would like to see the stores remain closed so those employees can enjoy their family too.

Thanksgiving Eve, and Thanksgiving Day is to be with Family, and be thankful you have family to spend it with. Its not to go shopping in stores that are jam packed. They crank up the prices anyway, and call it a sale. There will be more sales before Christmas, what is the rush. Why give up family time? Be thankful for what you have, instead of dreaming about what is on sale.
