Ollie - really? Sporting achievement, last two years? This is the Sports Personality of THE Year, not the last two years. So with that in mind half of this years contenders should not be here. When we look at previous years we had 2012 - Olympic year, plenty of achievements. 2011 - Amazing lineup. 2010 - Outstanding. 2009 - Unbelievable (maybe Giggs excluded). 2008 - Who is Rebecca Romero?. 2007 - The best lineup of all. 2006 - We can skip this year. 2005 - So good a year that no women got a look in. As for 10+ years ago! Look at the shortlists, outstanding sports personalities: Linford (lunchbox) Christie, Sally (the face) Gunnell, Jonathan (nice boy) Edwards, Frank (Harry) Bruno, Colin McRae (RIP), Damon (speedy) Hill, Frankie (cokehead) Dettori, GREG RUSEDSKI!!!!! (C'mon)Tim Henman, Iwan Thomas (erm?), Lennox (the champ)Lewis, Colin (boyo) Jackson, Steve (five times) Redgrave, Denise (washboard) Lewis, Tanni (wheely fast) Grey-Thompson, Ellen (the dame) MacArthur, Michael (wonderboy) Owen, David (golden balls) Beckham, Tony (future winner) McCoy, Jonny (iceman) Wilkinson, Martin (giant) Johnson, Paula (toilet break) Radcliffe. It's simply fact that this year we have struggled to find 10 sportsperson worthy of rewarding, so scraped together some almost familiar faces to enable the annual BBC knees up to be screened again.

Does Harry Orange have a point to make? Or is his uninformed diatribe simply venting personal prejudices? If he is trying to highlight the quality of this year's candidates is not up to scratch, then he needs to take a look back at some of the slim pickings of 10+ years ago.

Personally I think there have been some fantastic performances by British sportsmen and women this year and caps two years of excellent sporting achievement.

Did Andy Murray do a British Somali impression, must have missed that?

  • Nassir Abdi - 10 years ago

Mo Farah deserves to win if there is no prejudice involved but I still love Andy Murray as a British Somali. Good Luck both of them !!

Time to scrap the award if Murray wins this year. The man has no likeable qualities other than sometimes winning at tennis (when the best 3 are injured). Having said that, it's not the most exciting of shortlists is it? Look at the winners from years gone by, all interesting people who would brighten up the dullest of dinner parties. Murray would drag any party down to funeral levels of excitement.

It's about time the disability sports got a look in, or failing that someone on the England Women's football team. These are the real personalities of sport, showing us diversity and equality. Next year it should really go to a gay to make sure they're included too!

Andy Murray - as dour as they come
    Justin Rose - African
Sir Ben Ainslie - Small part of big team
Leigh Halfpenny - Was there a grand slam this year?
Chris Froome - Sorry, Brad was first to do this
    Ian Bell - Seriously?
AP McCoy - Probably too hasty to give him this last time
Christine Ohuruogu - Isn't she banned?
Hannah Cockroft - Not going to get many votes from our educated public is she?
Mo Farah - Has he run anywhere this year? Token anyone?

First Englishman to win US Open Golf in 43 years or a Scot who could put Higella to sleep after she's powdered her nose. ... No contest!
