Great season for Mt Lakes and coach Fusco but lets face it they play all small teams as they should. They wouldn't be undeated playing Mendham's schedule that's for sure. Carpluk came in and changed the culture in 4 months. The senior class had 6 or 7 wins in three years on varsity. He is hands down the coach of the year. The minutemen are is also Morris county's team of the year. PS Rob Mt lakes would not of beaten mendham every year since '06. 08 09 and 10 would have destroyed them that's for sure and the other teams would have competitive with them except for the last two teams.

Ummm...Dan....with no last name....congrats on a great season for your town...

Mt Lakes is one of the smallest schools in Morris County.
Big fish in a small pond? That is pretty amusing. They had to move us up a group...not based on numbers....but based on the fact that we were too good for Group 1. We are the smallest school in the Group 2 bracket. Cmon man.

Taking over a team with 4 wins in the last 2 years and take inch that team to the state finals that's quite an accomplishment. While mt. Lakes can be proud of there accomplishments they continue to be a big fish in a small pond

Boonton, Butler, Hopatcong, Morris Catholic...all group 1! Whippany Park and Walkill Valley, might as well be Group 1!

Mountain Lakes would've beaten Mendham this year and every year since 2006, Chuck. You have to play the teams on the schedule it's as simple as that.

North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 State Champions.....not Group 1 Chuck.

We should consider, Mendham earned only 75 powerpoints, and would not have made the playoffs in Mt Lakes bracket. Gridironnewjersey.com

Because mendham doesn't play a group 1 schedule

How can a Coach who has lost four games in four years (two of those in state finals games) and went undefeated this season lose to a coach who was one tie away from a .500 record? Coach Fusco has continued the tradition of expected excellence at Mountain Lakes and was the best coach in Morris County this season.

@Chuck: No, he didn't. Mendham rolled over against Phillipsburg in the finals

  • Chuck - 10 years ago

Carpluck pulled it all together down the stretch.

    Carpluk did more with less.

I'm sure Coach Carpluck is a great coach. However, look what Coach Fusco has done after taking over a program from one of the greatest, if not the greatest football coach, Morris County has ever seen. Doug Wilkins. A total of only 4 losses, only 1 regular season loss. Coach Fusco continually has over 75 boys grades 10 thru 12 on the sidelines every year. Mt. Lakes only has 300 boys in all grades in the High School. That speaks to the coach and the program he runs every year.

Hands down...Coach Carpluck is the coach of the year and I'm sure he will be "Coach of the Year" for many more years to come.
