Were Spurs right to get rid of Andre Villas-Boas?

AVB should have been given more time. Spurs should learn from Man U's management and fans.

The one thing Vilas Boas could do nothing about was Arsensl's success this season. 5th or 6th would have been ok if Arsenal were not top. Whilst arsenal have filed to win a cup for nearly a decade, Spurs have failed to finish above The Gunners for twice that and have not won a championship since the early 60's.

The club and fans live in a fantasy world of being a 'big' club and the largesse of Joe Lewis comes with even more unrealistic expectations and desperation. Liverpool have avoided this fate with Rafa's good fortune in the Champions League but exhibit much the same behaviour in transfers and managers. To Luverpool's credit their huge fan base have been extraordinary patient and realistic in their expectations.

Newcastle are perhaps the nearest equivalent to Tottenham. Big in their minds and locale.

Spurs, its owners, the club and its fans need to come down to earth and get real.

For Tottenham the day after Wednesday will always be Spursday at best.

They might not find someone who can do better, certainly immediately. Two canings like they've had is a rolling over of the players at least as much as the managers responsibility. A team of such high quality individuals should work together better than they did regardless. I wonder if the superstar set didn't really like him. He's not a player and he's young. I'm not biased but he is a foreigner. Whilst they shouldn't have gotten rid of him as a knee jerk reaction, I do think he'd be better back at home in the Portuguese league for a few more years. Shame to see him go as I like the victory of his back story. All the best Andre.

for me it was never about the points total. i've been a spurs fan for 25 years, because i like the way that they have always played - not because of the trophies. if i was looking for trophies i would have supported liverpool (then) and manu. of course we still crave good results and trophies, but the quality and exciting football is what always attracted me.
although he is not doing badly on points, the football they have played is just boring. they can only score from penalties and most of their possession is sideways. its not that he had to go - he should never have come!
