My parents had a dog when I was born. There are pictures of him watching over me in my crib and in my stroller. When I was about a year old, we also acquired a cat. I grew up with pets, since both of my parents were suckers for anything with 4 paws (and some with fewer -- birds, turtles, fish,etc.).
