I prefer color for street photography for a couple of reasons. First, if I manage to get an image containing powerful subject matter and good composition, the color adds even more power. But I find that its hard not to be distracted by simply the color in the scene. I keep working in color, waiting for those few images that really work well.
Secondly, I find that B&W too often adds drama to an image that's not really there. Too many of my B&W attempts initially look interesting... something like classic street photography. But pretty quickly I see that the subject matter is just normal everyday life with little real drama; the B&W over-dramatizes my images nearly in every case.
