Energy drinks are...

I second Duncan's comment. It's neither choice. I'm not worried about the health effects because I drink them occasionally, at a reasonable speed, and I don't go nuts with several at once. It's like any other caffeinated drink, and most of the other special ingredients are largely placebos.

There are some exceptions - like the big cans of Monster that contain 3 servings or more - people will drink those whole and it's like downing a few cups of coffee in one sitting. If people take them reasonably though, it's no worse than coffee. Most kids don't down 6 cups of coffee in an afternoon, so of course some of those who do this with energy drinks will suffer ill effects.

There needs to be more than two choices in your poll, which is why I refuse to answer it.

I don't "chug" energy drinks. I am very much cognizant of the stimulant content of them and manage it carefully when I do consume them. Also I'd like to point out that a 16oz cup of brewed coffee has as much if not more caffeine in it as a 16oz can of Monster or Red Bull has in it, but since coffee is a "traditional" beverage and coffee manufacturers don't list the caffeine content, nobody is complaining about that now are they? "Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt" seems to be what is being spread with regards to energy drinks, mainly because of a few idiots who drank way too much of it all in the same day (probably same sitting, for that matter) and understandably got hurt or dropped dead because of it. Sorry, doesn't fly with me. Energy drinks are perfectly safe so far as you're not stupid with them, just like anything else.
