One of the weak points in the Dixie Echoes has been they need a good lead singer and 1st tenor. I am not taking anything away from Randy Shelnut, but I feel his voice is more baritone than lead. Going back several years, even in the Dale Shelnut days, the group lacked on both ends, the 1st tenor and the bass. The group has had some good bass singers under the management of Randy. But for the most part they have lacked it on the top end.
Another thing that the Dixie Echoes has a problem with is consistent good recorded material. They have had this problem from when the group was formed over 50 years ago.
I would like to see the Dixie Echoes get with a good producer and put out an excellent record before time catches up with them.
