Do you think that The Biggest Loser should be blamed for Fredrickson's extreme weight loss?

While I agree with you that no one online really has the right to judge her, I think the "controversy" is not over the way she looks but rather how she got there. Most dietitians and weight loss experts suggest that losing 5 pounds per month is healthy, whereas Fredrickson lost 20 pounds or more per month. Whether or not the show itself is "to blame," the fact is that losing that much weight in so short a time is unhealthy and could potentially have consequences on her long-term health.

The real problem here is that this is a controversy at all. It's a show about losing weight, and it's something that the contestants all volunteer for. If she wants to look like that, more power to her. I don't know her, and neither does the majority of everyone commenting on it online -- but I don't feel like any of us should feel the need to say anything about her weight loss because we don't know her personally. Maybe if I were her friend I'd be concerned, but I'm an outsider and I shouldn't even have an opinion on how this woman lives her life. If she's not hurting anybody, she should be able to live whatever lifestyle she wants to. People make choices, and we can't blame a show for the choices anyone makes.
