I would consider getting would be a fennec fox,as they are the only form of wild canid that CAN be fully domesticated, and only from a reputable breeder that is the US,if such a thing exists. If not,I wouldn't get one at all.I'm not burnig to own one,but that is the only exotic pet I would ever choose to own,IF-and that's a BIG "IF"-I ever got one.

Personally, I have no problem with exotic pets if they're not things like lions, tigers, bears, apes, or monkeys, and they're treated properly. I have no problem with people having foxes, raccoons, raccoon dogs, tapirs, reptiles, tropical birds, and small exotic cats-as long as the properly care for them and understand them, that is. As for the idiots letting them go, those are the people who don't know how to care for them off what they're getting into and they let them go when they get to far in over their heads. The are the people who shouldn't even be allowed to have kids, or pets. Seriously, they could at least try to get a rescue to take them first, but no. They don't even try.

No I would not want an exotic animal as a pet. Too many people bring them into the U.S. where they do not belong and release them into the wild and upset the eco system of the area and they become predators in an area where they don't belong. As far as I am concerned people who do such things should be extremely punished for these types of acts. They are IGNORANT to and INCONSIDERATE of their environment and I think that they should be made aware of the SERIOUSNESS of their actions. The more severe the penalty the better.
